Paris, 10th of June 2019: SBS (ex-Sopra Banking Software) has announced its partnership with Digital Women’s Day, which will be held on the African continent for first time, in Dakar, on 13th and 14th of June.

Buoyed by the success of the seven previous events organised in France, this initiative, held for the first time in Africa invites us to discover the journey of inspiring women who are examples of success and contribute to the future of the digital world.

The theme this year – “Women Changing the World” – testifies to a commitment to honour the women who are changing the rules of the game thanks to new technologies. Digital represents a tremendous accelerator for women through entrepreneurship, fintechs or micro-credit, and major societal issues for the continent such as financial inclusion.

With nearly 900 employees in Africa, SBS (ex-Sopra Banking Software) has been supporting more than 200 customers for more than 40 years. This partnership reaffirms SBS (ex-Sopra Banking Software)’s commitment to the development of the African continent, with the desire to be people-centric, focusing the debate on society and helping women to take a stand in the world of tomorrow.

“We are very happy to honour the role of talented women in the digital age and particularly on African soil, where there is such a rich reserve of skills and which embodies the cradle of innovation for both now and the future. With more than 200 clients and 30 years of operations on the continent, we must support this digital transformation in a responsible manner, and that means ensuring equal opportunities by helping women to be part in this transformation in order to build a fairer world together,” said Eric Pasquier, CEO of SBS (ex-Sopra Banking Software) and Member of the Board of Directors of Sopra Steria

About Digital Women Day

Digital Women Day, co-founded by Delphine Remy-Boutang in 2013, connects and gives pride of place to women who are working to revolutionise the world with digital technologies. The goal of this event is to inspire and encourage women to venture forward through innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit through an annual gathering. The DWD is also a club: the DWD club. Founded in 2016, it enables members to meet up throughout the year and develop their networks at conferences and exclusive events.

On the occasion of the 6th edition, the DWD launched the Margaret Foundation, which supports projects by committed women, specifically by offering scholarships and training for young women wishing to pursue careers in the professions of innovation, and by raising awareness of entrepreneurship in schools in order to increase the number of women in the digital sector. In keeping with the “Margaret” award, the Margaret Foundation helps create even more feminine role models.
