Why did you choose the financial industry?
Antoine Joublin: Honestly, it happened a bit by chance! I realized that this field offered a lot of opportunities for growth and a chance to work on diverse projects, so I decided to go for it. It’s been a little over two years now since I joined SBS. I started as a web developer in the digital marketing team, and today, I’m a Full Stack & AI Engineer.
These days, I spend a lot of time diving deep into AI—understanding how it works, testing its real-world applications, and building solutions that make products easier to use and more enjoyable for users. It’s fascinating!
You’ve played a key role in enhancing the SBS website’s user experience. What have been some of your main contributions?
Antoine Joublin: Before transitioning into my current role, I worked as a web developer. One of my major projects was redesigning sections of the website, such as the homepage, blog, and product pages. I transformed mock-ups into fully functional, dynamic pages with engaging animations.
What I loved most, though, was being part of the complete website overhaul. I had the opportunity to rework the design, improve accessibility and mobile responsiveness, speed up loading times, optimize SEO, enhance security, and ensure GDPR compliance for tracking.
The site continues to evolve, and it’s exciting to see new teams monitoring and enhancing it further.
What does your current role as a Full Stack & AI Engineer involve?
Antoine Joublin: I’m part of the product team working on the Digital Banking Suite (DBS), a collection of digital banking solutions that helps financial institutions manage and optimize their online services—like their mobile apps.
Right now, my focus is on building and deploying AI-powered modules for the DBS. For example, I’m working on an AI-powered agent solution that supports both bank employees and customers. It provides guidance on how to use the app and improves the overall user experience, whether you’re working behind the scenes or using the app as a client.
Can you share another example of an AI-related project you’re working on?
Antoine Joublin: Sure! One of the projects I’m working on aims to develop an AI portal for the Marketing team. The goal is to create a portal that provides tools for Marketing, such as a chatbot capable of reading documents, answering questions, and interacting with SBS’s knowledge base.
You design AI tools for others, but how do you use AI in your daily life?
Antoine Joublin: AI has been a real game-changer for me. In the past, when I got stuck on a feature, I’d have to ask a more experienced colleague for help, which could take time. Now, with AI, I can find solutions almost instantly. Tools like GitHub Copilot—essentially a developer-friendly version of ChatGPT—are incredibly helpful.
Of course, I still need to double-check the code it suggests, refactor it, and ensure it works properly before integrating it into a project. But it saves me so much time and helps clarify my ideas.
SBS’s decision to provide Copilot licenses to developers is a fantastic initiative. I really appreciate the company’s forward-thinking approach in this area.
What are the biggest challenges in your role?
Antoine Joublin: The main challenges right now are technological: integrating AI into our products in a way that is robust, user-friendly, and high-performing, all while ensuring top-tier data security.
Looking ahead, the goal is to maintain this level of security and performance while staying innovative—adding new features and keeping our products on the cutting edge of AI advancements.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
Antoine Joublin: What I enjoy most is creating and developing tools that are not only innovative but genuinely useful. There’s something incredibly rewarding about designing solutions that address real needs and make people’s lives easier.
I particularly enjoy building features that are practical, intuitive, and high-performing. It’s exciting to see how they can transform users’ daily experiences.
