Automation Leads to Value Generation
VMSW is an umbrella organization for municipal social housing societies in Belgium. Among others, it hosts a loan platform for its municipal partners across the region of Flanders. In 2013, in the context of the required SEPA reforms, VMSW decided it also wanted to upgrade its loan origination and loan servicing system, and found a partner in Sopra Banking Software.
- Partners can work more independently
- Automation frees up more time for VMSW to do value-added tasks
- Granularity in access levels improves security
- Clearance of entire backlog
In 2013, within the SEPA framework, VMSW decided to upgrade its lending platform. Serving over 100 partners across municipal housing offices in Belgium, it had to meet goals of efficiency, security and automation. “We were already using a Sopra Banking Software solution since 2002, and it felt natural for us to come back to them” recalls Bert Simoens, Project Manager at VMSW. “This relieves us of a considerable burden in terms of cost and time, and allows VMSW to focus on more value-added tasks.”
It was important that the new loan origination and loan servicing platform allowed different access levels and user profiles, on top of its goal of automating a great deal of tasks that until then had required manual intervention. The platform, part of the Sopra Banking Lending offer, speeds up the loan cycle workflow, interacts seamlessly with third-party software and works with multiple distribution channels.
